Project Background:
EXPRO Production Systems FZE is installing a Foam Skid package for its OML29 Onshore Facility. The installation contract was awarded to Tyco Fire and Security UAE, who entrusted Elixir Engineering with performing the structural and piping stability analysis to ensure that the deluge network meets rigorous safety and operational standards.
Scope of Work:
- Piping Stress Analysis
- Structural Design Calculation and GA Drawing Modifications
Execution Methodology:
Document Review
- Review P&ID, Preliminary GA drawing, Tie-in Schedule, and Material Specifications.
- Review Piping and Structural Material Specifications.
Piping Stress Analysis
- Prepare an input requirement sheet to gather connecting pipe nozzle loads from the Skid battery limit.
- Review Foam Tank nozzle loads and collect data from connecting pipe isometrics up to the first Anchor point.
- Model piping per the preliminary GA drawing in CAESAR II, defining fluid/material properties and external load conditions (wind and seismic) as per project specifications.
- Define Support types and details.
- Conduct stress analysis under various load conditions (thermal, sustained, occasional, transportation) per project design and stress analysis criteria.
- Validate pipe load values at all support locations and node points, ensuring deflection and stress values remain within allowable limits.
- Finalize the first anchor point based on connecting nozzle loads inside and outside the Skid.
- If stress and deflection exceed limits, re-perform the analysis to adjust Pipe Support and routing arrangements.
- If values are within limits, extract the Stress and Restraint summaries, with Input Echo, for client submission.
- Update GA drawings to reflect any piping and support arrangement changes.
Structural Analysis
- Gather Foam Tank load data (Empty, Operating, and Test loads), Piping loads, and other component loads for structural integrity assessment.
- Model structural members per GA drawing in STAAD Pro.
- Define Piping loads (axial, vertical, friction) at support locations and include other component loads at specified structural points.
- Define external load conditions (wind and seismic) per project design.
- Perform structural analysis to evaluate deflection, torsion, and induced stresses, and recommend adjustments for design life stability (e.g., member modifications, wear plates, additional bracing).
- Conduct lifting lug calculations, shackle assessment, and anchor bolt design.
Report Preparation
- Compile a comprehensive report with results summaries and software output for stress and structural analysis.
- Submit GA drawings with updated recommendations based on the study findings.
Deliverables:
- Detailed Piping Stress Analysis Report
- Structural Design Calculation Report
- Piping Stress Isometric Drawings
- Structural and Piping GA Drawings with recommendations
