Project Overview:
Qatar Gas is expanding its North Field production and has awarded the "North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) Project Investment 1, Project 1" EPC Contract to M/s McDermott. As part of the scope, M/s Tyco Qatar Fire & Security is responsible for installing the 8” Deluge Skid on the Riser Platform RP1N. Our scope of work includes performing Piping Design and Stability Analysis for the 8” deluge skid system, focusing on stress analysis of the inlet and outlet lines as specified in the P&ID and General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
Execution Methodology for Stress Analysis:
The methodology for performing the stress analysis and piping design of the 8” Deluge Skid involves several key steps:
- Review of P&ID and Preliminary GA Drawings: Understand the system layout and piping configuration.
- Review of Tie-in Schedule & Material Specifications: Ensure compatibility with the existing infrastructure.
- Define Weight of All Components Inside the Skid: Calculate the weight for all parts within the skid.
- Prepare Input Requirement Sheet: Collect nozzle load data and connecting pipe details.
- Review Connecting Pipe Isometrics: Analyze piping up to the first anchor point.
- Pipe Modeling: Develop a piping model inside the skid using stress analysis software.
- Define Fluid & Material Properties: Set properties as per project specification.
- External Load Conditions: Incorporate wind load, seismic parameters, and other external factors as per API RP 2A Ed. 22 and API RP 2EQ Ed. 1.
- Determine Support Types & Details: Define pipe supports to maintain structural integrity.
- Stress Analysis for Various Load Conditions: Perform calculations for dead load, live load, thermal expansion, and pressure load.
- Validation of Load Values at Support Locations: Ensure all values are within acceptable limits.
- Deflection and Stress Validation: Ensure the system is compliant with project specifications.
- Anchor Point Determination: Finalize anchor points based on connecting nozzle loads.
- Re-analysis (if necessary): If stress or deflection limits are exceeded, adjust pipe support arrangements.
- Generation of Stress Summary & Restraint Summary: Create and submit detailed reports to the client.
- Update GA Drawings: Incorporate changes in piping and pipe support arrangements.
- Provide Load Values to Structural Team: Ensure the structural integrity of the design is reviewed.
- Preparation of Final Report: Document results, including software outputs for stress analysis.
- Submission of Updated GA Drawings: Reflect final design recommendations.
Deliverables:
- Piping Stress Analysis Report: A detailed document outlining the results of the stress analysis, including load conditions, stress calculations, and recommendations.
- Updated Skid Piping GA Drawing: Revised General Arrangement drawings reflecting changes in piping layout and support structures.
